Arm length was found to be the most important contributing factor to attractiveness
You don't need to look very hard at any red-carpet event to find gazillions of pairs of long legs tottering around, the never-ending pins look enhanced by six-inch heels and mini-dresses. But women wanting to attract attention should focus on enhancing the length of their arms, a new Australian study has revealed.
Women with long arms were considered more attractive than those with long legs, researchers at the University of New South Wales in Sydney found.
Forty male and 52 female volunteers were shown videos of models and then asked to rank them based on their looks. Arm length was found to be the most important contributing factor to attractiveness.
Hip-to-waist ratio was found to be the second most important factor, but leg length appeared to have little impact.
The results from the Australian group were compared to those from a group in Hong Kong to avoid cultural bias. Results from both groups were consistent with each other, revealing the love of long arms was not limited to just one culture.
"Attractive bodies have a suite of traits in the right combination," said Professor Robert Brooks, who led the study.
"The dimensions can tell observers if that person is suitable as a potential mate, a long-term partner or perhaps the threat they pose as a sexual competitor."
So next time you're wanting to attract a certain someone's attention, don't let all the girls in short skirts put you off; just give him a flash of your sexy elbow to shoulder region and you'll have his attention in an instant!
