Taylor Swift and her new boyfriend Conor Kennedy showed up to a Kennedy family wedding uninvited on the weekend and carved up the dance floor a la Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in Wedding Crashers.
The mother of the bride Victoria Gifford Kennedy of the prominent American family revealed to US newspaper the Boston Herald that Conor and the famous singer arrived at her daughter Kyle Kennedy’s wedding despite Conor never sending his RSVP for the event.
"They texted me an hour before the wedding and asked if they could come," Victoria said. "I responded with a very clear, ‘Please do not come.’"
Victoria complained that Taylor, 22 and 18-year-old Conor’s arrival caused a disturbance as guests rushed to get photos and autographs.
"I personally went up to Ms. Swift, whose entrance distracted the entire event, politely introduced myself to her, and asked her as nicely as I could to leave," Victoria told the newspaper.
"It was like talking to a ghost. She seemed to look right past me."
It’s a rule of thumb not to wear anything too eye-catching to a wedding for fear of taking away attention from the bride – what about the arrival of a celebrity?!
But Taylor’s publicist Paula Erickson denied that was how the event unfolded when contacted by the newspaper.
"There is no truth to that," she said. "Taylor was invited to the wedding and the bride thanked her profusely for being there."
Victoria Kennedy said Taylor and Conor left while the guests ate dinner, but returned later to bust some moves on the dance floor.
The young couple have been in the headlines almost constantly since their romance was first revealed in July.
Conor is the son of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Mary Kennedy, who committed suicide earlier this year. Taylor recently accompanied Conor to pay respect at his mother’s grave.
