A UK beauty queen who claimed to be 22-years-old for five years has been stripped of her titles.

Teacher Laura Anness, 27, was crowned Miss Cornwall this year, despite the fact she lives in a different part of England, the Sun reported.

Ms Anness was forced to give up her title and relinquish her position in the Miss England final after it was revealed she lied about her age several years in a row.

Entrants in the Miss Cornwall pageant need to be aged between 17 and 24 and live in the south-west English county.

Ms Anness continued to lie about her age after missing out on a placing in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Organiser Becky Chapman said she came across Ms Anness's forms from the previous year when she was cleaning out her office.

"When I approached Laura about this, she came clean and admitted she'd lied about her age to follow her dream," she said.

"It's all rather sad and has never happened before in the contest."

The Miss Cornwall title will be passed down to 21-year-old runner-up Samantha Orpe.
