When a female university student jokingly updated her Facebook status saying she was looking for a boyfriend, she didn't expect someone to take her up on the offer – at least not in the form of a job-application style cover letter.
The unknown woman photographed the snail-mail correspondence she received under her college dormitory room door and posted it on photo sharing website Imgur.com with the caption "Asked for boyfriend on Facebook as a joke. Got this under my dorm door."
The tongue-in-cheek (we hope) formal letter begins "I am writing to you in regard to the position of boyfriend. I became aware of this position through the social networking website, Facebook."
In the letter the suitor (whose personal information has been obscured for privacy) goes on to list reasons why he’d make a great boyfriend, in the same tone and style usually reserved for job applications.
"I feel I am well-qualified for the position that is offered, as I am a caring individual and an all-round good person.
"Skill set includes: Being laid-back, having stability, cuddling, country music appreciation, tolerance for shopping, oral sex, ability to listen (read "really listen"), exceptional navigation skills and ability to prepare own meals."
The unknown suitor's exercise in subtle humour has gone viral, being viewed more than 1.5 million times in four days.
We think she should get him in for an interview (date). You've gotta give the guy points for creativity. We’d take a humorous letter under the door over a lazy ‘What u up to 2night?’ text any day of the week. You?
Have your say: What's the most romantic gesture you've received?
